    Dannie of Cedar Cliffs

    author comments:

The story of Dannie was given voluntarily from his own lips, with the sole desire that his friends and his posterity profit by his mistakes and successes. It was told to me with keen wit, drollery, and pleasantry and again with seriousness, even genuine solemnity. It gripped me with the conviction that others too might enjoy the same. His children, his neighbors, and some of his closest friends sanctioned the publication of this story.

My motive for writing this bibliographical narrative is threefold: to portray early Mennonite life, to show what part a layman can have in the progress and upbuilding of the church, and to preserve for my own children and others of this generation the story of the heroic struggles of the fathers of the past generation in providing for us today the institutions which at present are so much a part of the life of the church.

261 pages. Paperback. Conestoga Valley Bookbindery. Christmas Carol Kauffman.
