God’s Care
By Mark Roth on January 21, 2009 at 11:14 am
Today I saw a bird
‘Twas speckled brown and white.
He bobbed upon the wire
And sang with all his might.
And then he flew away,
Up, up into the sky.
His wing beats took him higher,
But then—! I saw nearby . . .
The nest of twigs and grass
This tiny bird had made.
His mate was sitting there,
Completely unafraid.
She had no fears or frets—
Her partner would be back.
Perchance he’d bring a worm,
Perhaps a different snack.
I sit and think awhile . . .
How birds just simply trust.
I think then of ourselves—
And how much more we must!
Now you’ve read the first five pages! Here are the last two:
Sometimes God’s care seems hard to bear,
Like chilly, drifting snow.
But then I see how lovingly
He’s helping me to grow.
As I am sinking into sleep,
A seedling in Your care,
I trust You, Tender Gardener—
I know You hear my prayer!
