November 2009 Newsletter
By Mark Roth on November 6, 2009 at 9:54 pm
I just published our monthly newsletter. You can get it via email from our home page.
Or you can read it right here. 🙂
- Welcome
- New Books
- Site Visitor Idea
- Books for Our Times
- Tidbits
- Customer Needs (Our?) Help
Let. Allow. Yield.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts…” (Col. 3:15).
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Col. 3:16).
Governed by peace — God’s peace.
Full of words — Christ’s Word.
I want to yield to that today.
Somehow.

Since the last newsletter, we have added these new books:
- A Heart for God (by John Coblentz)
- Into Their Hands at Any Cost (by Harvey Yoder)
- God’s Miracle — an Egg (by Rebecca Newswanger)
To learn more about them, link to them from here:

And before too much longer, I expect to add these new books listed in Rod & Staff’s just-released 2010 catalog:
- The Upward Way
- My Book About Jesus
I plan to announce those additions at our blog as soon as I get them online:

Here’s what she wrote on November 3:
I wanted to say how much the Pathway (Amish) magazines have inspired me: Family Life, Blackboard Bulletin and Young Companion. Since it’s hard to find these magazines if you don’t live in Amish country, it would be a great service if you would sell sample copies through the bookstore so people can see if they would like to subscribe. Overall, they are very biblical and offer wise counsel in dealing with difficult people.
Hmmm. I don’t recall having considered that before. I don’t know. Maybe next time I do a Pathway order I’ll follow her suggestion.
That’s what I call the newest section to our flagship site. In it I propose to list selected books speaking to issues of our times. I hope to add a new selection every month or two.

The first issue is one that is “hot” on my mind: money. If that sounds a little too crass for you, maybe “wealth” or “finances” or “economics” sounds better.
Anyway, the six books I have chosen address wealth or money management or socialism or all three. Some of the books are studies; others, novels or allegories.
- Money Issues for Christians Today
- A Way in the Wilderness
- From Wealth to Faith
- Henry and the Great Society
- The Whirlwind Cometh
- Principles of Economics
The last week in October I updated our CLE site with Christian Light’s second edition of their Grade 1 Sunrise Language Arts:

I have sort of an unusual question or request and I am hoping that you can provide some guideance for me. I have managed to acquire some very important books to us in the homeschooling of my granddaughter who is 9 in 4th grade.
There are a couple of books that we can really use and I am wondering if you have people who contact you and would like to donate books to those in need or help out someone who is homeschooling that may need some materials and can’t afford them.
Well, that would be my situation. […] It has been 1 year since I became unemployed.
And I am having a very difficult time trying to provide for my granddaughters, other is just 4 years old yet, and really need a couple books to help me educate her this year.
The books I need most are a history curriculum for 4th grade and the workbooks and teachers manual that accompany it.
The second most needed are science books.
I use Rod and Staff Math and English and Bible and readers.
So that is what I am asking…if there are people who ask you about helping out someone in need or providing school materials for a child who really needs them.
I send this newsletter only to people who WANT it. (If you want to forward it to a friend…well, that’s up to you. It’s certainly fine with me.)
