Parents, here are five “random” suggestions for how to approach test taking with your children:
- Make sure that your child does all his homework and reading assignments which will help prepare him for the test.
- Encourage your child to do well, but don’t pressure him.
- Make sure that your child gets enough sleep on the night before the test.
- Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoids heavy foods that may make him groggy and high sugar foods that may make him hyper.
- If your child is struggling on his tests, talk with him about it and meet with his teacher to find out the best way to help your child.
I adapted these slightly from the longer list at Test Taking Tips for Parents.
