January 2010 Newsletter
By Mark Roth on January 26, 2010 at 8:23 pm
On the 23rd I sent out our January 2010 newsletter. You can get it via email from our home page.
Or you can read it right here. 🙂
- New Book
- CLE Curriculum
- Tidbits
- In Closing
Today I finally added this new book from Christian Light:
Let Pablo Yoder take you on a photo tour of nature’s paradise in Latin America and see the handiwork of God’s fingers.
For years we have sold Christian Light Education’s line of textbooks and LightUnits. In fact, we sold it online for quite a while before they did.
This year, though, our marketing relationship with them changed.
We no longer sell their educational materials directly but via affiliate links on our CLE site.
Please continue to purchase from us by entering their site through ours. (I know it adds an extra click to your Web experience.)
Thank you!
Another thing I’ve done for quite a long time is promote Christian Aid Ministries. (As with Christian Light, I put them online long before they had a site of their own.)
Christian Aid Ministries has been serving in Haiti for some 20 years, so they were positioned to give immediate, “on the ground” assistance right after the devastating earthquake.
I set up an info and donation page here:

He came!
“And the light shineth in darkness” (John 1:5).
“He came” (John 1:11).
“But as many as received him” (John 1:12).
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
He came…to turn my darkness to light.
He came…to enlighten me.
He came…that I might know Him.
He came…so I could receive Him.
He came…to give me the option of becoming a child of God.
He came…to show me His glory.
He came…to live among people such as I am.
He came…full of grace and truth…for me.
Thanks to the Lord Jesus for coming!
I send this newsletter only to people who WANT it. (If you want to forward it to a friend — well, that’s up to you. It’s certainly fine with me.)

A Good Minister
By Mark Roth on January 21, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Anabaptists in the twenty-first century are known to be good craftsmen, good farmers, good entrepreneurs, and good neighbors. Are they good ministers?
When facing a new calling, needing some how-to advice, or wanting to become more effective in your ministry, what a blessing to have a wise and seasoned servant to call on for advice. Such a person may not always be available. A Good Minister can help meet that need.
This handbook for conservative Mennonite ministers addresses many important subjects, from the importance of a minister’s spiritual life, to preparing sermons, to his multiple roles as a pastor, teacher, counselor, leader, comforter, and Christian example.
Written from the heart and life of an experienced minister, A Good Minister provides warm, practical, and inspirational counsel for the newly ordained, veteran ministers, or anyone with Christian leadership responsibilities. A Good Minister will be an appreciated and helpful reference.
